Event Details

In 'Innovation Nation', Secretary of State John Denham asked NESTA to 'develop an Innovation Index to measure UK innovation in the round.' The purpose was to embody a broader vision of innovation and to establish a baseline for the UK's performance against that, and to provide an effective tool for targeting and measuring past present and future policy interventions.

On Monday 7th July, NESTA will launch the Innovation Index project. Lord David Curriethe Chairman of Ofcom who is Chairing the Index Advisory Board, will introduce the project, Richard Halkett, Executive Director of NESTA's Policy & Research Unit will outline NESTA's proposed approach and Lord Currie will then chair a panel discussion including Ian Pearson MP, Minister for Science & Innovation, Vicky Pryce, Joint Head of the Government Economic Service and Chief Economic Adviser at BERR, Mark Britnell, Director General - Commissioning and System Management, Department of Health and Ben Verwaayen, former Chief Executive of BT.

The Innovation Index is a challenging, controversial and important project. Please join us for what promises to be an excellent discussion.

Time: 5.00pm-6.30pm (Registration from 4.30pm, with presentations starting promptly at 5.00pm).

A drinks reception will follow from 6.30-7.30pm.
